First, in April, we made a garden box. This is Kenna, our little helper. She was great at helping with the garden, but she especially liked using the drill.

We dug up the hard clay (2 days of pick-axe work to turn over a 4'x8' area!) and added gardening soil.

Buff helper! This was so cute. Jason carried the first few bags to the garden, and all of a sudden I saw Kenna sneaking off to the garage. I followed her to see what her sneaky little self was up to and caught her trying to help out some more. She was so determined to move that bag of soil--too bad it weighed more than she did.

Laying out the plants and starting to plant them. (using the Kenna-sized shovel)

All planted. It was past dusk. On April 15. Happy birthday Drake and Ian!!

She was so proud of what she had accomplished. Jason and Kenna were a great team!

June 19. Green serranos.

July 29. Red serranos.

Very red = very yummy.

The mini Romas are taking over!

Some of the bigger beefsteak tomatoes.
A scary spider trying to take over. (the Romas won)

June 29.
First harvest of big tomatoes. ~10 lbs

First harvest of mini Romas. They made unexpectedly sweet, delicious, spicy salsa.
